2010 Lincoln Shield Pennies

 
2010 is the very first year proceeding the bicentennial celebration of the Lincoln penny of 2009. The 2010 design features the union shield with a draped scroll across it. The inscription of the scroll reads the words “one cent”. There are 13 stripes across the shield that represent the joined states that supported the federal government as one union. The inscription E Pluribus Unum is written on the coin which means “Out of many, one”. The design was made by Lyndall Bass.
